Roller skating is just as popular as it’s ever been, but learning how to roller skate can be a real challenge for some kids. The fear of falling on the rink floor or sidewalk can be embarrassing and may dissuade kids from continuing the hobby (and it hurts!). Some other children may just be to young to get the knack of standing up on wheels right away.
Our latest PVC plan resolves these issues: The PVC Roller Skate Trainer is a rolling bar that provides support as the kids move about the skating rink, driveway or cul-de-sac, without the fear of falling or getting hurt.
The Roller Skate Trainer is built from 1-1/4 in. PVC Pipe and 1-1/4 in. PVC Furniture Fittings, and can be highlighted with color PVC fittings to make it stand out better and give a clean, glossy professional look. Threaded casters from your hardware store or home center provide the rolling action, along with FORMUFIT Caster Fitting Inserts, which connect the casters to the pipe structure.
The plan was designed with the average height of 6 to 8-year olds, but given the varying heights of kids, we recommend that for shorter kids, the length of the vertical PVC pipes be reduced by four (4) inches, and increase by four (4) inches for older, or taller kids.

Suzanne, you’re a genius!
Can you use the PVC Caster Pipe Cap instead of the caster fitting inserts?
How many seniors contact you about this? I used to skate but now I am 69 and don’t want to risk falling. Thinking of this for a paved path nearby. What do you think?
