Product Basics
FORMUFIT makes furniture grade PVC pipe, fittings, and accessories designed for building structures and projects rather than plumbing. Based in Lenexa, Kansas, FORMUFIT products are made in the USA and fit standard Schedule 40 PVC pipe. Makers, designers, and DIYers use them to build furniture, frames, carts, and more with FORMUFIT pipe or regular PVC from any hardware store.
Furniture grade PVC is Schedule 40 PVC pipe and fittings made for building structures rather than plumbing. FORMUFIT furniture grade PVC is UV-resistant and impact-resistant, with a glossy finish and no printing, stamps, or barcodes. It matches standard Schedule 40 sizes, so it works alongside regular PVC pipe from any hardware store.
No. FORMUFIT fittings work with any standard Schedule 40 PVC pipe, including plumbing pipe from a hardware store. Plumbing pipe has drawbacks, though: printed markings, a dull finish, and less UV protection, so it can yellow and turn brittle in sunlight. FORMUFIT Furniture Grade PVC pipe avoids these problems. FORMUFIT furniture grade PVC is made for structural projects. It is impact-resistant, UV-protected, and has a clean, mark-free finish. Plumbing PVC usually has printed markings and isn't made for the stress of furniture or play equipment.

FORMUFIT PVC comes in White, Black, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Pink, Gray, and Clear. The color runs all the way through the material rather than being painted on, so scratches won't show a different color underneath. Sizing & Compatibility
PVC pipe is sold by nominal size, which does not match its actual diameter. FORMUFIT fittings fit Schedule 40 pipe of the same nominal size, so 1" fittings fit 1" pipe. Larger sizes are stiffer and hold more weight; smaller sizes suit lighter, compact projects.
- 1/2" (0.840" outside diameter): small frames, crafts, organizers
- 3/4" (1.050" outside diameter): light furniture, shelving, displays
- 1" (1.315" outside diameter): general frames, kids' projects, goals
- 1-1/4" (1.660" outside diameter): furniture, carts, pet beds
- 1-1/2" (1.900" outside diameter): heavier furniture, exercise equipment
- 2" (2.375" outside diameter): large structures, heavy loads

Match the nominal size: 1" fittings fit 1" pipe, 1-1/4" fittings fit 1-1/4" pipe, and so on. The name doesn't match the pipe's measured diameter, which confuses many first-time builders. Our PVC 101 page explains how to measure pipe you already have.

No. FORMUFIT fittings and accessories fit Schedule 40 PVC pipe only. CPVC and CTS pipe use a different sizing system, so they will not fit. You can usually spot CPVC and CTS by their tan or cream color; standard PVC is white. Learn more on our PVC vs. CPVC Compatibility page.
Yes, with FORMUFIT external-fit fittings, which slide over the outside of the pipe. Thinwall PVC pipe has the same outside diameter as Schedule 40 but a larger inside diameter, so internal accessories such as internal caps and internal couplers will not fit snugly. Those require Schedule 40 pipe.
No. FORMUFIT pipe and fittings are not NSF certified for potable water or pressure plumbing; they are designed for structural use. Because they carry no certification markings, they will not pass plumbing inspection. Customers commonly use them for non-pressure applications such as irrigation, aquaponics, and aquariums.
Measure the outside diameter of the pipe with calipers or a tape measure, then match it to the nominal size. For example, pipe that measures about 1.315" across is 1" PVC, and pipe that measures about 1.660" is 1-1/4" PVC. Our PVC 101 pageand PVC Pipe Dimensions Chart list every size.

Shipping & Delivery
FORMUFIT offers four shipping services for US orders. We use UPS, FedEx, and USPS depending on your destination and the service you choose. Average transit times, after your order ships:
- Economy: 4 to 7 business days
- Standard: 2 to 5 business days
- 2-Day: 2 business days
- Next Day Air: 1 business day

- Fittings and accessories only: typically ships within 1 to 2 business days.
- Orders that include PVC pipe: typically ships within 3 to 5 business days, since pipe needs extra cutting and packing.
- 2-Day and Next Day orders: placed before 12:00 PM Central Time on a business day, these ship the same day.
Weekends and observed holidays are not counted as business days.
Your total delivery time is the time to ship plus transit time. For example, a fittings-only order with Standard shipping usually arrives within 3 to 7 business days, and an order with pipe usually arrives within 5 to 10 business days. For faster delivery, choose 2-Day or Next Day Air at checkout.
Yes. FORMUFIT ZeroShip gives you free ground shipping on orders of $149 or more shipped within the contiguous United States. The discount is applied automatically at checkout. Orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, US territories, and international destinations are not eligible for ZeroShip.
When your order ships, we email you a confirmation with a tracking number. You can also click View your order in your order confirmation email, or check My Orders if you have an account.
Yes. Economy and Standard orders, including orders with PVC pipe, can ship to a P.O. Box through USPS. 2-Day and Next Day Air require a physical street address.
Yes. FORMUFIT ships to most countries that use NPS (Nominal Pipe Size) or DN (Diamètre Nominal) pipe sizing, through UPS and FedEx. Customs duties and taxes are not included in the shipping charge and are collected by the carrier at delivery. International shipping can cost more than the products themselves, especially for pipe. Ordering & Payment
No. There is no minimum order on formufit.com, so you can order only the fittings you need. Small orders can ship through low-cost USPS Ground Advantage, and orders of $149 or more ship free within the contiguous United States with FORMUFIT ZeroShip.
FORMUFIT accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover, plus Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Shop Pay, and Amazon Pay.
Yes. We accept internationally issued Visa and Mastercard credit cards. PayPal is also available for international orders.
Yes. Our store runs on Shopify, which encrypts every transaction and meets PCI DSS Level 1, the highest standard for payment security. FORMUFIT never stores your credit card information.
FORMUFIT collects sales tax on orders shipped to states where we are required to, including Kansas and Florida. Any tax is calculated at checkout. If you or your organization are tax-exempt, email your exemption or resale certificate to info@formufit.com before placing your order, and we will mark your account as tax-exempt.
Yes. FORMUFIT Direct, our bulk site, offers custom-cut PVC pipe, so your pieces arrive ready to assemble. This is especially helpful for larger builds or if you don't have cutting tools. To cut pipe yourself, see our How to Cut PVC Pipe guide.
Yes. FORMUFIT Direct sells FORMUFIT pipe and fittings in bulk quantities with volume pricing. It's built for schools, businesses, fabricators, and large projects.

Returns & Cancellations
If your order has not shipped yet, you can edit it yourself in one of two ways:
- Open your order confirmation email, click View your order, then click Edit.
- Log in to your account, select the pending order, then click Edit.
If you don't see the Edit option, your order may already be in process. Email us at info@formufit.com and we'll help.
Yes. If your order hasn't shipped, email info@formufit.com with your order number as soon as possible, and we'll cancel it and issue a full refund. Orders that have already shipped can't be cancelled, but you can return the items under our return policy.
Yes. FORMUFIT accepts returns of unused fittings, accessories, and uncut pipe within 30 days of purchase. Items must be new, unused, and in their original packaging. Pipe that has been cut or modified, and items marked final sale, cannot be returned. See our Product Returns Policy for full details.
For returns within 30 days of purchase:
- Log in to your account and find your order.
- Click Request Return and choose the items you want to return.
- We'll review your request and email you return instructions, usually with a prepaid return label.
- Pack the items securely in their original packaging and ship them back.
The cost of the prepaid label is deducted from your refund. Original shipping charges are not refundable.
Yes. Returns within 30 days of purchase have a 10% restocking fee. Returns between 30 and 60 days have a 25% restocking fee. The fee is deducted from your refund.
Sometimes. Returns between 30 and 60 days after purchase are reviewed case by case. Email info@formufit.com with the items you want to return. If approved, we'll send you a return authorization (RMA) number and the return address. For these returns, you arrange and pay for return shipping, and a 25% restocking fee applies. We cannot accept returns more than 60 days after the original order date.
No. To switch to a different product or size, return the original items through our standard return process and place a new order for what you need. Before ordering, check our PVC 101 page or PVC Pipe Dimensions Chart to confirm your size.
Please check your order within 3 business days of delivery. If anything is wrong, missing, or damaged, contact us through our Contact Us page with your order number and photos of the issue, and we'll make it right as quickly as possible.
Refunds are processed within 6 to 8 business days after your return arrives at our warehouse. The refund goes back to your original payment method, and your bank may take a few more days to post it.
Projects & Building
Yes. The FORMUFIT PVC Plans Library has more than 50 free project plans for furniture, sports equipment, dog agility, kids' projects, garden, and more. Each plan includes a step-by-step PDF with a materials list and a SketchUp file you can customize. We also offer how-to guides, free SketchUp components, and customer project submissions for inspiration.
Use 1-1/4" PVC pipe. Our free dog bed plans each use four 1-1/4" 3-Way Elbows, four 1-1/4" External End Caps for the feet, and straight pipe cut to size. Choose the plan that fits your dog:
- Small Dog Bed: 29" x 22" x 8"
- Medium Dog Bed: 32" x 28" x 8"
- Large Dog Bed: 38" x 30" x 8"
Each bed sits 6" off the floor, works indoors or out, and includes instructions for adding the bedding fabric.
It depends on the angle you need:
- Box-style corner (three pipes at 90° to each other): use a 3-Way Elbow. This is the most common fitting for frames, tables, and beds.
- Straight run with one branch: use a Tee.
- More connections: for four or five pipes, use a 4-Way Tee or 5-Way Cross.
All are available in 1/2" through 2" sizes.
Our free Kids Soccer Goal Frame Plan builds a toddler or youth-size goal with a 4' deep base, and it breaks down for easy transport. You'll need:
- 70 feet of 1-1/4" PVC pipe
- 4 1-1/4" 3-Way Elbows
- 4 1-1/4" 45° Elbows
- 2 1-1/4" Tees
- 2 1-1/4" 90° Elbows
The plan includes a step-by-step PDF with cut lengths and a SketchUp file.
Furniture grade PVC is strong enough for furniture, carts, exercise equipment, and outdoor structures when you choose the right pipe size and span. Larger pipe and shorter spans hold more weight. Not always. It depends on whether you want your project to come apart:
- Permanent: PVC cement creates a strong, permanent bond.
- Secure but removable: PipeRivet fasteners lock joints in place without glue.
- Take-apart or adjustable: Quick Release Pins let you assemble and break down a project in seconds.

You can cut PVC pipe with a PVC ratchet cutter, a hacksaw, or a miter saw. For clean, square cuts, mark your measurement all the way around the pipe and remove any burrs afterward.
