Build a Poolside Towel Tree with FORMUFIT PVC

Every pool owner knows the struggle — piles of towels everywhere, never quite drying, and multiplying faster than you can fold them. To solve this summer dilemma, FORMUFIT created the PVC Poolside Towel Tree — a simple, durable, and space-saving rack that keeps towels, goggles, masks, and floats neatly organized by the pool.
This project holds up to six towels and offers the perfect blend of functionality and fun summer design. Pool and patio accessories were part of FORMUFIT’s original inspiration, so this project brings us back to our roots with a build that’s ideal for homeowners, swim teams, pool managers, and anyone who loves a tidy backyard oasis.

Innovative Inset Pipe Design
The Poolside Towel Tree is the first FORMUFIT PVC plan to use an inset pipe construction method. This technique involves drilling holes into a larger pipe and inserting a smaller-diameter pipe through it — perfect for creating ladder-style rungs or, in this case, sliding towel arms. These adjustable arms move back and forth to accommodate different towel sizes and accessories, making the rack both versatile and customizable.
Simple, Sturdy, and Smart
The design is built from 1-1/4” PVC pipe for the main column and base, and 3/4” PVC pipe for the adjustable arms. The base connects with a 1-1/4” 5-Way PVC Cross for maximum stability and support.
You’ll need a 1-1/8” hole saw to make the openings for the arms — an inexpensive and easy-to-find tool that makes this build simple even for first-time PVC makers. For extra stability around the pool, the base can be filled with play sand or gravel. When the season ends, the rack disassembles quickly for compact storage in a shed or garage.
