DIY PVC Jump Rope and Hula Hoop Rack for Organized Storage
Every physical education teacher, fitness instructor, or gym owner knows that keeping jump ropes and hula hoops organized can be a real challenge. These items are fun and essential for exercise, but storing them neatly—especially in schools or shared gyms—can quickly become chaotic. One FORMUFIT customer solved this problem with a clever DIY PVC jump rope and hula hoop rack built from 1-1/4" Furniture Grade PVC fittings and pipe.
The customer initially found a similar rack online but was unimpressed by its price and build quality. Determined to create something stronger, more colorful, and affordable, they designed their own version using FORMUFIT’s high-quality PVC components. The end result was a safe, mobile, and durable storage solution that cost a fraction of pre-made options.

Pipe Cutting Dimensions
Using a chop saw, they cut each pipe segment to the following sizes:
- 12 cuts of 8-1/4” – short sides, middle base, and top rack supports
- 4 cuts of 12-1/4” – long base sides
- 2 cuts of 12-1/2” – top supports between racks
- 3 cuts of 56” – vertical jump rope poles
- 1 cut of 4-1/2” – middle extension
- 1 cut of 6-1/2” – tallest extension
Assembly Process
After all the parts were cut and dry-fitted, the builder ensured every fitting aligned properly before applying PVC cement for a permanent hold. The FORMUFIT Caster Fitting Insert tutorial made installing the casters simple, ensuring smooth movement once assembled.
